Santa
Monica Loews Beach Hotel
Loews Santa
Monica Beach Hotel ****
Loews Santa Monica Hotel: This
recently renovated resort overlooks the Pacific
1 block from the Santa Monica Convention
Center, eight miles from Beverly
Hills, nine miles from Los Angeles
International, and 15 miles from downtown Los
Angeles
The 340 guestrooms, redone in
new warm-toned drapes and furnishings in 2001,
include 60-channel TVs, Internet access, three
telephones, robes, and CD players. Sliding doors
open to private balconies.
A glass atrium lobby contains
45-foot palms and fabric draped from the ceiling.
A signature restaurant offers outdoor seating
and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean
from the fireside lounge.
Guests
glide through automatic revolving doors into a
completely remodeled, soaring four-story atrium
lobby. The numerous private seating nooks are
furnished with soft sofas and chenille chairs.
Striking rows of palm trees end at the oceanfront
lounge. Business and leisure travelers alike use
the hotel’s many services
and gathering spaces.
The Loews Santa Monica
offers unobstructed ocean views from the Mediterranean-style
restaurant, fireside lobby lounge, and large pool.
Both terrace- and pool-side dining are available,
while the spa offers massage and other treatments,
yoga classes, a large fitness room, and sauna
and steam rooms. Business and pleasure travelers
make use of the beauty salon, jewelry shop, and
car rental desk.
Lounging by the ocean is one
option, but what about L.A.’s reputation
for mobility, and nearby Palisades Park or the
Santa Monica Pier? When the urge
to “go local” strikes, the hotel can
arrange for wheels. Choose a cycle, skates, or
rollerblades, and turn left for Venice Boardwalk,
or right for Palisades Park. Either direction
offers that quintessential L.A. experience.
