Review
 This
family favorite is the
largest hotel
in Jamaica,
a combination of two high-rise
beachfront properties
constructed in 1975 and
1976. In 1993, an elaborate
cluster of waterfalls
and swimming pools was
inserted into what had
been parking lots between
the towers, and the entire
complex was unified into
a coherent whole. The
place is pure theatrics
and special effects, like
a Hollywood production,
but is short on true Jamaican
style. It seems to be
meant to overwhelm guests.
Today,
the end result boasts
more beachfront than any
other hotel
in Ocho Rios and
a comfortable array of
public rooms (often filled
with members of tour or
conference groups). The
standard bedrooms are
tile-floored and furnished
with Caribbean
furniture; each opens
onto a private balcony,
and contains a midsize
private bathroom with
tub and shower.
